Duffy Theatre

September 23rd, 2014 at 11:00 AM @ Kevin Lawson Hall

This year Duffy and his friend Rosie are excitedly awaiting a visit from Duffy’s famous, rugby league playing uncle, Bingo. They are taken aback however when they begin to learn that Bingo isn’t a big fan of books and maybe can’t read at all! With ideas from the audience and Duffy’s King of Colours book, the pair go on a journey to help Bingo learn the importance of reading and the benefits it can have for everyone, everywhere. Together, Duffy and Rosie sing and stumble their way through to the realisation that everyone has a different favourite story and that each person’s story is just as awesome as the next.

Duffy Role Model Assembly

September 25th, 2014 at 1:30 PM @ Kevin Lawson Hall

Catherine Cheatley: I was born and grew up in Wanganui where I competed in a range of sports from a young age. I started cycling when I was 12 and haven't looked back since! In 2007 I took a year off my full time teaching job to race full time in the USA and I won a bronze medal at the world track cycling champs. In the last 5 years of full time racing I have achieved many things I never would have dreamed of and travelled to many cool places and met some amazing people. Highlights would be attending 2 Commonwealth Games and 1 Olympic Games and being the top ranked rider in the USA in 2010. Unfortunately I had to hang up my racing wheels in 2012 due to injuries from a cycling accident and I went to work for Bike NZ as the Waikato/BOP Development Coordinator. This year I am also completing my studies at Waikato Uni. I have just returned from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where I was part of the Athlete Support Team, it was an AMAZING experience to be able to do that for other athletes. I hope you all enjoyed watching the Games, New Zealand did so well, and of course my favourites, the cyclists won the most medals J
